The Vetiveah Immanuel

Foundation

Advancing food justice and sovereignty through education, advocacy, and community action

Growing Food.

Harvesting Sovereingty.

Empowering Communities.

We are building a future where every community has the knowledge, resources, and opportunities to grow, access, and enjoy healthy, culturally relevant food.

At the Vetiveah Immanuel Foundation, we believe that lasting change begins in the garden.

Through hands-on education, community partnerships, and food justice initiatives, we are empowering children, families, and communities with the knowledge and skills to grow food, care for the environment, and build healthier futures.

Every workshop, garden, and educational experience plants seeds of confidence, self-sufficiency, and community resilience.

As our programs continue to grow, so does our commitment to cultivating a future where everyone has the opportunity to learn, grow, and thrive through the power of food and gardening.

MEET THE FOUNDER

Vetiveah Immanuel

A former picky eater turned community feeder, Vetiveah’s journey began with a deeply personal question: Why do some communities have access to healthy food while others do not? During her homeschool field trip at 16 years old, at a nonprofit urban farm apprenticeship program in Chicago, she witnessed firsthand the realities of food apartheid, nutrition inequities, and the transformative power of community-grown food. That experience ignited a lifelong calling to connect people back to the land, their health, and their inherent power to nourish themselves and their communities.

For more than a decade Vetiveah has worked at the intersection of food sovereignty, nutrition education, public health, urban agriculture, and community development. She has partnered with organizations including FoodCorps, CitySeed, Greater Chicago Food Depository, and Green Village Initiative, where she developed culturally relevant food education programs, farm-to-school initiatives, community gardens, food entrepreneurship programs, and wellness-focused learning experiences.
